Another Chance to Fail Resolutions
Well, it's the new year. I'll be honest with you: I didn't really make any new year's resolutions. Every year I make them I always seem to forget what they were anyway. I can't remember last year's resolutions, for example. I'm the kind of person that lives day-to-day without any major planning, which is probably the biggest reason I'm poor right now.
I suppose my New Year's Resolution could be to develop a better habit of planning and meeting goals. This, however, is where it becomes a paradoxical problem: How does one resolve to plan and meet goals when the very problem itself prevents one from making a resolution to solve it? Perhaps now you understand my dilemma.
Of course, I am not completely inable of adhering to and completing long-term goals and plans. I've pledged life-long loyalty to my fiancee and I have no intention of backing down on that. I planned on moving out of my father's house and managed to succeed there-- although that could be considered a short-term goal. I've saved up for a car-- does that count? Come to think of it, it's pretty hard to come up with any solid examples of where I've stuck with long-term goals. I'm more pathetic than I thought!
So what can I do about this? How can I possibly resolve to fix a problem when that very problem is the inability to make any resolutions? Am I doomed forever to a life that doesn't go beyond daily tasks and (perhaps) weekly or monthly goals?
